Featuring Upsy Daisy, Igglepiggle, Makka Pakka and three Tombliboos, In The Night Garden is a surreal environment and is dreamlike throughout.

The characters have their own catch phrases which make little sense to adults but builds familiarity with the target audience.

Igglepiggle is a teddy bear type creature who carries a red blanket and falls flat on his back when surprised. He's the only character that doesn't sleep in the night garden.

Upsy Daisy has a rag-doll appearance and her catchphrase is her name repeated over and over. Her skirt rises up like a tutu when she dances and her hair stands on end when excited.

Makka Pakka is smaller than the other characters. He lives in a cave and cleans anything that moves... or doesn't move! His trolley, Og-pog carries his soap and sponge, a red trumpet and Uff-uff which is like a set of bellows.
