Balamory is a Cbeebies programme with human characters who interact with both the viewer and the others in the show. Balamory is very colourful, bright and cheery but with a strong sense of reality by using real events and real children.

Each day there is a new story that concludes within the 20 minute duration. There are often songs to entertain and sing along with. The programme deals with real life issues such as allergies, likes and dislikes but these are delivered in an entertaining way.

Balamory is filmed in a real island location which adds to the realism. The layout of the village and island is easy to follow and children are soon familiar with it and it's amazing colours.
